After releasing the brake, the brake drum should be able to rotate freely and not bite. After adjustment, a road test is required to check the braking performance and whether the brake drum is hot. During locomotive transportation operations, the trailer braking should be 0.3 to 0.8 seconds earlier than the main vehicle braking. When the brake pedal is pressed to 4/5 of the total travel, the trailer brakes, and when further pressed, the main vehicle brakes. If the trailer brakes later than the main vehicle, it will cause the trailer to collide with the main vehicle, making it difficult for the driver to operate; If the trailer brakes too early, it may lead to traction, which can lead to issues such as frame stretching and brake cup damage.
